Manchester's Whitworth Art Gallery- 'Private Paradise' wallpaper exhibition.
19th February till summer 2011

Sunday, 6 February 2011

These illustrations are the work of production designer Eve Stewart, 50, who is nominated for an Academy Award for The King's Speech.

'Before I start I always do a lot of research,' she says. 'I am a stickler for authenticity. I'll watch old newsreels, I'll go to the Victoria and Albert Museum, that sort of thing. Then I'll do sketches that we can work from, a design of how we want the room to look.

"Different cultures want to group together, they want to stick to their own culture, but what I do is create a kind of mongrel. In reality most people’s cultures have evolved out of this mongrelization, but people don’t acknowledge that. British culture in reality is very mixed."
Last week I attended the Private view for the Showstudio shop called 'To Bed'..
The Beautiful exhibition included photography by Nick Knight, Corinne Day and Andy Warhol in a small bright gallery off Bruton street in Mayfair.
